Content and search important to travel companies
The travel industry has decided that internet marketing will drive the growth of the sector.
A meeting of travel company representatives recently debated key business driver issues, the website Travolution reports.
Representatives from 11 organisations including British Airways and Thomas Cook discussed the most important subjects in the sector, including the emergence of affiliate marketing and the pivotal role content will play in the future.
One representative spoke to the travel website, commenting on the increased association with content-rich sites: "I know that personally we are getting involved in a lot more content-rich sites than ever before. Our hand has been forced by search engine quality changes and saturation in paid search."
Reward and loyalty sites were also mentioned as potential significant factors, while mobile technology was not seen as imperative by affiliates - at least for a number of years.
Internet holiday sites were described recently by David Brice of Global Holidays as offering more choice and the "best technology in the business" for holidaymakers looking to book a getaway. Mr Brice remarked that online holidays available on the web were cheaper and more convenient than those from high street counterparts.
