Website searches 'must show relevant information'

Businesses that are aiming to attract more customers online have been urged to prominently display relevant information on internet searches.

Internet search solutions firm Celebros stated that if customers look at a company's website in search of a particular item, the site has to relay the same information as a live salesperson.

This, it said, could be pivotal in influencing shoppers make a purchase, as poor results could cause them to look elsewhere.

Celebros has perfected its own system that has been adopted by more than 200 clients, which allows the search function to learn from each experience.

This means it can fine-tune the search to show only the most relevant items on the first page of results, making consumers much more likely to buy them.

Tal Rubenczyk, vice president of marketing at Celebros, commented: "The fact that our solution, which has proven itself to be a revenue-generating asset, is already available in many languages gives online retailers that conduct business internationally - and those that plan - a substantial advantage."

The firm added that if the search behaves like a salesperson, it can influence the purchase decision and have a "strong" and "significant" impact on sales.

A recent survey by the firm found that more than 94.4 per cent of customers are satisfied with quality of Celebros, while a similar proportion said the products have been valuable to their site.
